Welcome to the American Citizen Services (ACS) Unit of the Embassy of the United States of America in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The ACS Unit provides services to United States citizens visiting and residing in Sri Lanka and Maldives.
Please note that the ACS Unit will not process any visa related inquiries. Information relating to Non-Immigrant Visas, Immigrant Visas and the Diversity Visa Lottery Program is separately available on this website.
The ACS Unit in Colombo visits U.S. citizens in jail, assists families and friends following the death of a U.S. citizen loved one, offers help to U.S. citizen children and families involved in abductions, checks on the welfare of U.S. citizens, liaises with federal benefits agencies, provides routine notary services, can help you register to vote in U.S. elections, and can provide you with timely information on safety and security matters in Sri Lanka and Maldives.

Appointments
We require an appointment for all routine services. The on-line appointment system allows you to schedule your own appointment in a time slot that suits you. This process is fast and easy and improves the quality and efficiency of the service that we provide.

General Assistance U.S. citizens may contact the ACS Unit via telephone on working days between 8:00am and 4:30pm for matters that cannot be resolved by access to information on this website. The ACS Unit is open for walk-ins on Mondays and Wednesdays between 1:00pm and 4:00pm

Non-U.S. citizens may receive limited types of services in certain qualifying circumstances. Please contact the ACS Unit directly via email on Colomboacs@state.gov or telephone 011-249-8686 to request an appointment.
The ACS Unit closes at 12:00pm on Fridays and is closed on Embassy Holidays and weekends.
