The Jilting of Granny Weatherall (1980, Running time: 57 minutes)
Granny Weatherall (Geraldine Fitzgerald : Academy Award Nominee & Tony Award Nominee) is a spunky old lady of eighty who bosses her doctor and her children around. She seems so strong and in control, and yet she has never had the upper hand in her destiny. One morning, a flood of long-forgotten memories brings her to the realization that of all her accomplishments, she cannot console herself for the shame-filled day she was left standing at the altar. Still, her indomitable will to live and act independently infuses the last day of her life. Adapted from the short story by Pulitzer Prize winning writer Katherine Anne Porter (“Ship of Fools”) “The Jilting of Granny Weatherall” reminds us of the plight of many women who wait for life to claim them, rather than seek life out for themselves.

The Man that Corrupted Hadleyburg (1980, Running Time: 40 minutes)
Hadleyburg has a reputation for unshakable honesty. The smug towns-people are proud of this virtue and keep themselves honest by simply avoiding temptation. That is until “The Man that Corrupted Hadleyburg” arrives in town. Academy Award Nominee & Tony Award winner Robert Preston stars as the stranger who plots a revenge on the hypocritical residents by promising a fortune to the citizens who once showed him charity many years before. One by one the stranger tempts the leading citizens to scheme for the money- until Hadleyburg’s honest reputation is mud before the world. Based on one of Pulitzer Prize winner Mark Twain’s best-known short stories, “The Man that Corrupted Hadleyburg” is a cynical, yet humorous view of life in America’s small towns-a life that the acerbic Mr.Twain knew only too well.
