Colombo, November 2008:  Room to Read & the American Center Present a Public Lecture on “Education – Investing in Future Generations”

The lecture will look at how educators in Sri Lanka and in the United States are addressing gaps in the delivery of education in the areas such as literacy, school enrolment, gaining access to universities, competencies in Information Technology and mathematics and infrastructure.

The guest speakers are Dr (Ms) Tara De Mel, Former Secretary to the Ministry of Education and Adviser to the former President Chandrika Kumaratunga and Ms Pamela Gray-Bennett, Director of the Commission on Public Secondary Schools for the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC), United States (linked via Digital Video Conference) on the 20th November from 6.00 p.m. to 7.30 p.m. at the American Center Auditorium, No 44 Galle Road Colombo 3.
