US Pacific Command Statement on Strategy

The United States’ oldest combatant command, U.S. Pacific command (USPACOM), has been a force for peace and a committed partner in the Asia-Pacific region for more than 60 years. With an Area of responsibility (AOR) that includes more than 3.5 billion people and encompasses over half the earth’s surface, the Command remains a significant stabilizing influence in the world. We are proud of our legacy and will remain actively engaged with our national and international partners in preserving the security and stability upon which the region’s success depends.

Now d.light, a company the Stanford students started, sells the $20-$30 Nova lamp in Africa and Asia, where it replaces expensive and unhealthy kerosene lanterns.

International Students Getting More Graduate Program Offers

Washington -- For a third consecutive year, the number of international students receiving offers of admission to master’s and doctoral programs at U.S. colleges and universities has risen, with a 16 percent increase in admission offers to Chinese students leading the way, according to a new study by the Council of Graduate Schools (CGS).

Washington -- Developing countries that enable citizens to prosper from their creative and innovative work will defeat poverty, according to a Washington-based scholar. 

Life-saving drugs will be developed, memorable movies will be produced, valuable books will be written if the people who create them are able to earn money from them, said Michael Ryan, the director of the Creative and Innovative Economy Center (CIEC) in Washington.
